Positive Possil gets behind Scotland Loves Local Week 2026
‘Flying the Flag for Local Businesses’ is the theme of events taking place from Saturday June 13th
Positive Possil is throwing its weight behind Scotland Loves Local Week and the drive to boost business across the region.
The transformational impact of choosing local will be highlighted as part of events taking place from Saturday June 13 to 20th.
As Scotland Loves Local is taking place as the country rallies behind Scotland in the World Cup, this year’s theme is ‘Flying the Flag for Local Businesses’, highlighting the difference that can be made by getting behind businesses and organisations in our communities.
It’s a message which Positive Possil is firmly behind.
Jim Garrity, Chair of Possilpark Improvement District, said: “We are fortunate to have such a diverse range of businesses in our neighbourhood and all of them contribute so much to this community. When we ‘shop local’ we are supporting these businesses and the people behind them. Many of the businesses have served our community for many years, and others newer to the area. They are all integral to making our daily shopping. So lets ‘fly the flag’ for our local businesses and help them to thrive”
The Scotland Loves Local Week is being led by Scotland’s Towns Partnership (STP), the organisation which spearheads Scotland Loves Local.
STP Chief Officer Kimberley Guthrie said: “It is easy to underestimate the impact of local people supporting local businesses, and local businesses supporting one another. Yet every one of us can play a remarkable role in driving community wealth and building stronger, more resilient communities simply by choosing to do so.”
Scotland Loves Local is the drive for people to build stronger, more sustainable futures for their community by supporting the businesses in their area, potentially injecting millions of pounds into regional economies. It is supported by the Scottish Government.
